The switchable power supply of the ZSOM-Control provides a 5 V and a 3.3 V output that can each deliver up to 300 mA.
These outputs are intended to supply peripheral devices (e.g. sensors, small modules or external logic) whose supply voltage is switched on and off by the application running on the ZSOM-Control. Both outputs are current limited and short-circuit protected.
| Parameter | +5V output | +3.3V output |
|---|---|---|
| Output current | up to 300 mA | up to 300 mA |
| Current limit | approx. 320 mA (typ.) | approx. 320 mA (typ.) |
| Protection | current limit, short circuit, over-temperature | current limit, short circuit, over-temperature |
| State after power-up / reset | off | off |
| Fault indication | yes, readable in the FPGA | yes, readable in the FPGA |
| Terminal (J9) | pin 47 | pin 49 |
| GND terminal | pin 48 | pin 50 |
See also the pinout.
Each output is controlled by an enable signal and reports errors via a fault signal. The signals are available as FPGA I/O items in the CLIP of the ZSOM-Control:
| CLIP name | Direction | Polarity |
|---|---|---|
| GPIO_5VENB | Read/Write | TRUE = 5 V output on |
| GPIO_5VFAULT | Read-only | FALSE = fault (overcurrent or over-temperature) |
| GPIO_3VENB | Read/Write | TRUE = 3.3 V output on |
| GPIO_3VFAULT | Read-only | FALSE = fault (overcurrent or over-temperature) |
The enable inputs of the power switches have pull-down resistors, so both outputs stay off until the application switches them on.
